Quinn's Photo Shoot

G.G. and Grandpa Max arrived with bags of Gymboree clothes. Emerson was unexpectedly ecstatic about both he and Quinn's new outfits. He tried on everything saying, "Doesn't this fit perfectly?" after each new outfit was on. Here's one of Quinn's cute new summer outfits. I think they'll be great for a Connecticut summer.

Quinn has suddenly become interested in toys. She's content to be sitting near Emerson and playing, okay chewing, on whatever she can get her hands on. She's been lunging, attempting to get what's nearby. Is crawling on the horizon? I can remember waiting impatiently for each milestone to happen when Emerson was little. With Quinnn, it feels like every milestone is happening too quickly. "What she's sitting already?" It's nice to enjoy each phase.

G.G. and Granpa Max Visit

G.G. (Great Grandma) and Grandpa Max drove down from Washington to visit us in Coos Bay. The weather was beautiful all weekend and we were able to see Shore Acres and Cape Arago in a new light. They are both spectacularly beautiful sights.

Emerson enjoyed playing with silly Grandpa Max and showing G.G. all his "tings."

In this picture, Emerson was near the camera trying to get Quinn to smile. "Mission completed." Sean and I make silly faces, do crazy dances, swing our heads back and forth and then Quinn smiles. Emerson just walks by and Quinny girl lights up and often giggles.

It was so nice to have family in town. The kids clearly enjoyed spending time with GG and Granpa Max. Quinn seemed to be smiling whenever she was awake and Emerson loved having a new audience.

Crawdad Festival

A couple of weekends ago, the weather was perfect and we headed north to the Crawdad Festival in Lakeside, Oregon. "Crawdads are fun to play with...not so fun to eat," according to Emerson.

Quinny and I got to wiggle our toes in the sand.Wherever we go, Quinn seems to enjoy herself. She contently observes and gives a little squeal of delight when she seems something she likes. If I'm holding her when she gets excited, she grabs my hair and tries to suck on my cheek. Yep, a little slice of heaven...covered with drool.

Wherever we go Emerson somehow finds unexpected objects and turns them into tools. For instance, he found this plastic tube and turned it into a fishing pole. When we leave the house Em always has a toy in tow, usually something squishy. Then, along the way he finds something that he insists on taking home. At the crawdad festival, he first found this tube and later after trying crawdad and disliking it, he wanted to take the crawdad home for his "pet."

Portland with Mom & Nick

We took a 4 1/2 hour drive north to Portland, Oregon while my mom and Nick were here. It was wet and stormy during most of our trip, so the Portland Children's Museum offered a nice dry place to explore.

Such a good little patient, Quinny is.

Emerson loves Bob The Builder, so seeing Muck "in person" was a treat. He sang and continues to sing, the entire song. Here's the song, according to Em...

"Bob the Builder, Can he fix it? Bob the Builder, if he can (really, not too confident, Bob). Scoop, Muck and Dizzy and Rolly too, Lofty and Wendy join the cwew and drive it with spud, working together to get the job done. Building and fixing is so much fun, working together to get the job done.

It's pretty cute, Emerson always sings a song to fit the activity. When an activity is especially exciting, Em hums the 20th Century Fox Intro song. He's never met a tune he didn't love.

This was taken at a park just down the street from our hotel in Portland. Em was pretty thrilled to be playing with Gaga and Gonka again.

Shore Acre State Park with Gaga and Gonka

Even though it rained most of the time they were here, we had a really nice visit with my mom and Nick. In these pictures w were walking through the beautiful grounds of Shore Acres State Park just south of Charleston, Oregon. Huge ruby red, pink, violet, and white rhododendrons were in full bloom. It made for a spectacular walk. Emerson ran through down the path hollering, "Aren't those flowers beautiful?" Observant chap, isn't he?

My mom, Quinn and I; the girls laughing. The older I get, the more thankful I am to have my mom in my life. I keep traveling further and further away, yet she always feel so close.
