Quinn's 1st Birthday

Here Quinn is being pulled by Emerson on her new train. She seems a little apprehensive about the driver's skills.

When Quinn laid eyes on her baby for the first time, she held her up and said, "Bay!" She held her baby and hugged her. Now we ask if she's going to give baby a kiss and she opens her mouth and lays one on baby. I had no idea she'd love a baby so much. Emerson tries to take baby occasionally and is met with shrieks and squeals.

I made a coconut cake with meringue frosting. We sat Quinn on the counter and let her dig in. Surprisingly, she touched the sticky frosting, made a disgusted face and started to cry. And I was prepared for a frosting covered baby too.

Emerson's 4th Birthday

We had just seen a real tiger...I'm not sure why we took a picture of this wooden one instead.
I guess because it was easier to capture.

Quinn is belly laughing in this picture. For some reason the sight of Emerson's head just cracks her up...every time. Someday soon maybe she'll explain why.

I love this picture. Sean and his little girl. They are pretty sweet to watch. I can already see her melting Sean and see how excited she gets when Daddy's around. Lately she's been trying to climb into this little seat, the bumbo. Before she climbs in, she looks and makes sure Daddy is watching. Once Quinn sees that Sean is, she quickly demonstrates her moves.

We took Emerson to ZooBoise for his birthday. It was a relatively empty so we were able to roam and take our time checking out all the animals/aminals.

He also got to enjoy part of a school day with friends. I made cupcakes and Quinn and I took them to Em's preschool. It was fun to be there to sing "Happy Birthday" with his class. Overall, I think he had a great day.

Still Dash, weeks after Halloween

Here's Emerson riding his bike in full costume on the green belt. He got lots of double takes and "Aw's." The goggles, ooh I mean superhero mask, came from a Black and Decker tool set from Grammy Lane back in 2007. They no longer have lenses, but Emerson insists, "I need my googles to look cool."

Halloween

I don't know how I captured this one. Usually Em sees the camera pointed his way and he runs.
I think he felt really...incredible on Halloween. He handed out candy and Josh and Sheila's and ran around telling everyone how fast he, Dash, was. And now, three days later, he still wants to dash around in his costume. Well, not just dash around, but he also wants to sleep in it, play in it, wear it to the grocery store. The only thing that's prevented him from wearing it non-stop is his fear of the stuffing coming out of his muscles. He wants this goodwill find to remain in pristine condition for next year.

Katie, Josh and Sheila's oldest daughter, is pretty sweet with Emerson. They bonded a couple of weeks back when Katie and Hanna babysat. Emerson decided to stay up with them until 11ish.

The kids loving up their daddy after work. They get pretty excited when they hear him walk through the door.
This little girl loves her daddy! Around 6 o'clock she starts crawling toward the door and if I mention "daddy," her eyes light up and she looks around for him.

Preschool Field Trip

Emerson's preschool class took a walking field trip to an Albertson's to pick out pumpkins. Quinn and I chaperoned and got to see Emerson in action.

Good times at Fairview Park

Here's Em playing at Fairview Park, just two blocks from our house. We're really enjoying our little neighborhood. Its tree lined streets and older homes make it feels quaint. It's really close to downtown Boise too.

The Green Belt

Just a ten-minute walk from our house is the Boise Green Belt. It's a paved path along the Boise River that runs about 9 miles long. We took the kids and Eli for a stroll a couple of nights ago. A bike trailer and bikes would let us cover more ground. We'll see... For now, it's nice on foot and Emerson doesn't have any complaints on the Skuut.
